ADVISORY BOARD

The IP-WARE SUMMIT is advised by an Advisory Board. The board members are internationally recognized individuals with a in-depth knowledge and experience within various aspects of handling Intellectual Property. The members of the Advisory Board are:

	John Collins, BSc, PhD - Partner, Marks & Clerk, UK John has considerable experience of proceedings before the European Patent Office, including oppositions and appeals and also has experience in litigation both in the UK and the USA. His expertise lies in the field of software, Internet and business method patents both in Europe and the US. In the US, he has acted as an expert witness in litigation on a software patent case. He understands many computer languages including Pascal, C and HTML and has web site development experience. As a member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) Technology Committee and a member of the CIPA Parliamentary Committee, he is involved in advising CIPA and members of the UK and EU parliament on developments in patent law in the field of software, business methods and electronics.
	Urban Lind, MBA, M.E.(Physics) - Senior Patent Attorney, AWAPATENT AB, Sweden Urban is a European Patent Attorney and specializes in electrical and computer science and biomedical engineering in fields such as telecommunications, radar level gauging, antenna technology, laser lithography, database security and biomedical appliances. Urban is a senior patent attorney at Awapatent's Gothenburg office, and is also member of Awapatent's board of directors. He also works as a patent attorney, drafting and prosecuting patent applications and advising clients with regard to patent strategy issues and evaluations of patent rights, including freedom-to-operate analyses. Urban leads Awapatent's specialist group for US Patent Law, and has held numerous lectures in the US, Sweden and Denmark on topics related to European patent practice. Urban also has extensive experience of opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office. Urban is also a co-author of the publication "Uncertain times - until harmonisation occurs, software patents have created an ambiguity that is detrimental for everyone".
	Steen Magnussen, CEO, CLS Communication A/S, Denmark Steen joined CLS Communication in 2004 and was assigned by the Swiss owners to build up a Nordic hub in Copenhagen, Denmark. He previously worked locally and abroad in the engineering industry as well as the communication and translation businesses. For CLS Communication Steen pursued a strategy of becoming one of the leading language service providers to dedicated industries, one of them being life science incl. patents. Several successful BPOs (business process outsourcing) followed. Thus, a 2007 BPO resulted in the take-over of the entire patent translation department of one of Scandinavia's leading IP consulting firms. As a result, Steen is now heading a dedicated team of language specialists for important IP industries such as biotechnology, chemistry, electronics, food technology, health care, manufacturing and mechanics. These fields of expertise link up closely with validation and filing departments of major IP firms as well as renowned life science companies. Steen is currently Vice Chairman of the "Danish Association of Translation Agencies".
	Valery N. Medvedev, Managing Partner, Gorodissky & Partners, Russia Valery Medvedev is Russian patent and trademark attorney, and Eurasian patent attorney, has extensive worldwide practice and experience in patent matters in the field of mechanics and electrical engineering, and in trademark proceedings. He also counsels clients on issues related to infringement of IP rights, management of IP assets, technology transfer and licensing. Valery has been practicing IP law from 1982. In 1998 he joined Gorodissky & Partners as Managing Partner. Valery regularly delivers speeches on different IP topics related to the Russian and Eurasian patent legislation and enforcement at international and domestic conferences. He has a number of publications in IP periodicals. Valery is a member of AIPPI, LESI, FICPI and INTA.
	Jonathan Newcombe, European Sales Manager - CPA, Global Software Solutions, UK Jonathan Newcombe is the European Sales Manager for CPA Global's software business. Jonathan has been working in the field of IP for ten years, the majority of this time working with CPA Global's range of IP management software systems for the corporate and legal sectors. Prior to joining CPA, Jonathan worked in the Information Technology industry for six years for organisations such as ICL and Fujitsu, primarily in the area of on-line document management systems and CRM solutions. Jonathan graduated from University with a BA in Information Design and lives in Cambridge, England.
	Elliot Papageorgiou, B.C.L., LL.B.(Hons.), B.Ec., B.Com. - Partner, Rouse & Co., China Elliot Papageorgiou advises international, and especially European, companies on China IP-Strategy, protection and enforcement. He also advises clients on how to adapt and localise their IP portfolios for China, in order to maximise protection and the ability to enforce IP rights. Elliot has written a number of scholarly works, and chapters in books dealing with IP enforcement in China, and has taught a number of classes and given a number of seminars on China IP Enforcement, including for the University of St. Gallen and Fudan University. Elliot has been working in the IP field since 1995. He joined Rouse & Co. in 1999, after working for two years in the Intellectual Property & Technology department of leading Australian law firm Clayton Utz. He has worked in Rouse & Co.'s Oxford, London, Munich, Beijing and Guangzhou offices, and is presently an Executive of the Shanghai Office. Elliot is admitted as an Attorney-at-Law in New York, as Barrister & Solicitor in Victoria, as well as a Solicitor in England & Wales. He has been a Partner of Rouse & Co.'s associated English law firm, Rouse Legal, since 2004.
	Patrick H. Sullivan, D.B.A. - ICMG Inc., USA Dr. Patrick H. Sullivan is an expert on extracting value from intangibles and is considered to be one of the leading conceptual thinkers in the field. He has pioneered the development of methods and practices for analyzing, valuing and managing intangibles as business assets. He has consulted with over 100 organizations on managing and extracting value from intangibles. He is a founding partner of ICMG, a consulting company focused on managing intellectual capital to maximize value. He was the founding Chairman of the L.E.S. Intellectual Capital Management Committee and the LESI Intellectual Asset Reporting Committee. He is a member of the American Bar Association Intellectual Property Licensing Section, and a Fellow of the American Council on Education. He is a regular author of published articles on intellectual capital management; and has published four books on intangibles management, measurement and valuation.
	David Webber, B.E. (Hons.),LL.B. - Partner, Davies, Collison & Caves, Australia David specialises in patent, design and copyright advice for electrical, electronic, computer software and communications products, with particular expertise in patents for Internet, telecommunications, business methods and e-commerce products. He is responsible for the information technology & communications patent practice and has considerable experience in patent drafting, patent infringement and patent opposition matters. David joined Davies Collison Cave in 1985, becoming a partner in 1992. David lectures in patent and copyright law and integrated circuit legislation for both the University of Melbourne and Monash University. He has worked as in-house counsel in London, and presented seminars to the Australian Patent Office on business system patents. He is also regularly invited to speak to the business and legal community on computer software protection and e-commerce issues and contributes to a number of intellectual property journals. He is currently a member of the Australian Government's Professional Standards Board for Patent and Trade Marks Attorneys.
