The IPWARE SUMMIT 2009 will be held in Saint-Raphaël, France, October 21 - 23, 2009. The purpose of the event is to bring together IP software users, vendors, developers and researchers to discuss the latest developments in all kinds of software which can be used to process Intellectual Property. The event includes a conference and vendor exhibition which will be open during the entire conference.

Intellectual property is often difficult to value and exploit, and requires constant vigilance to protect. The complexity of legal procedures and enormous amount of information processing involved in any IP-related work make software tools indispensible in operative pursuing practical strategies for protecting and exploiting all aspects of intellectual property.

A great number of excellent software tools on many aspects of intellectual property handling are already available, but there are issues to focus on. These involve matters like integration of IP software into a company's workflow for more operative administering and management, higher quality tools for search, examination, translation and composition of patents, customized systems that would enable both expert and non-expert users navigate IP documents pertinent to their specific needs and extract information of interest without reading the whole patent disclosure.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to

    • IP knowledge management
    • case handling, cost calculation
    • patent analysis
    • keyword extraction, indexing and search
    • machine translation and computer-assisted translation of patents

  • user-tailored applications
  • user experiences
  • evaluation of IP software systems

Presentations on experiences and expectations of the IP software users as well as contributions from developers, vendors and researchers demonstrating real-life applications are particularly welcome. Presentations relating to any other aspects of IP processing are also encouraged.

Speakers will have 20-30 minutes for presentations and 5-10 minutes for Q&A.

Paper submission

To submit a paper to the IPWARE SUMMIT it is necessary to write a brief abstract outlining the proposed presentation and send it via email to program@ipware-summit.com along with a personal biography and proposed presentation title.

The deadline for submission of papers is 20 April, 2009. A limited amount of speaking space may be available after this date.

Any recommendations on specific high-interest topics for information specialists in the IPWARE SUMMIT area or a keynote speaker on a particular topic are welcome. Please contact the conference organizers with your views via email program@ipware-summit.com

The abstracts will be accepted at organizer's discretion in order to assemble the best possible program. Please, do not include confidential or business-sensitive information in your abstract as your abstract may be published on the Internet or elsewhere shortly after receipt or at any time thereafter.
