Challenges of IP software selection and implementation - a customer view
Chris Vigars, Founder, ElementOne IP |
|
Abstract
The speaker will present a customer view of selection and implementation of an IP management software solution in both large and small IP private practice firms. The speaker will consider various issues that are encountered during such a process, and will compare and contrast the effects on large and small firms. These issues include:
- Evaluating the business case;
- Selection procedure;
- Cost vs. value;
- Infrastructure issues;
- Development issues;
- Legacy systems;
- Integration with other software solutions and existing working practices;
- Personnel issues including change management and training;
- Business cultural issues.
The comparison of the issues arising in large and small firms will be of broad interest to the attendees of the conference, and should provoke some debate and knowledge sharing.
